Letters from Captain Henry Allen and others posted from various locations (including Copenhagen, London, and Cronstadt [Kronstadt], Russia) to Ebenezer Putnam and Edward Allen, a merchant in Salem. Letters describe the detention of the Brig Jason and seizure of its freight in Copenhagen, the release of the vessel and its safe arrival in St. Petersburg, and Allen’s intent to return to Salem with the brig loaded with a cargo of 50 tons of iron and 60 tons of hemp.
